Why English is the only foreign language on packing of goods in India
"English" is the only language used in India when packing goods, according to Thakur Dalip Singh Ji. There are several languages written on the package in other nations, but in India it's just "English" — and it's the foreign language "English" too.
Indians, were you successful in gaining independence? If you want to claim that, you have to be an independent. It's just that our mental slavery to the foreign tongue hasn't yet come to an end within us. Numerous Indian languages that originated in India are significantly superior to English in terms of linguistic quality. As a result, it's widely used in our country of origin. But why aren't our Indian languages utilised on packing?
It's also astonishing that, despite their lack of self-respect, Indians don't speak out against foreign languages. Until now, not all Indians have objected to the use of provincial and national languages on the packaging of items sold in India. It's for this reason that all of India's corporations utilise "English" on their packaging. Why would we speak out against the alien English language written on the packaging when we lack the self-respect to write the name of our country in our own language?
When the Mughals invaded our nation, they called it "Hindustan," and we accepted it without question, never arguing that our country's name is "Bharat." Similarly, when the British arrived to control our country, they referred to it as India. We never defended our country's true name because we were humbled and afraid. Is it a lack of self-confidence or a desire to unleash our minds? Sri Satguru Gobind Singh Ji instilled the concept of self-respect, and we should follow such teachings in our daily lives if we want to be proud of our country being called as “Bharat”.
There are few places in the world with a strong civilization and culture that has given birth to too many languages that are unique from one another. In comparison to other religions, these languages were developed by four Indian faiths. Keep this notion in mind at all times; otherwise, you will continue to be a mental slave.
All of us are Indians! Every day, we see, buy, and utilise a variety of products. Have we ever noticed that the majority of the items we purchase have the "English" language printed on them? English, on the other hand, is a foreign language and a symbol of enslavement to us Indians.
In every Indian state, there are people who can read, write and speak in several languages. As an example, Gujarati is spoken in Gujarat, Tamil is spoken in Tamil Nadu, and Punjabi is spoken in Punjab, among other things. Also in India there are many individuals who can read or understand Hindi no matter where they live in the country because it is our national language. Only one language is used on packaging in India and it's a foreign language, English. Isn’t it a disgrace for us?
Each item has its own label with information about its name, preparation, how long it can be used as well as its price so people can read it and choose products that suit them and utilise them properly. For Indian clients, writing all of this in English is unfair and deceitful. Because most Indians are unable to read English, even if they do, they will not be able to comprehend. Incredibly, not a single person in India has spoken out against it since it was announced. On the other hand, in other nations, whether they are poor or developed, their native languages are printed on the packaging of goods. To ensure that every resident of a country can read and comprehend the information on the item's packaging, several countries use 10 languages.
The fact that the majority of Indians who buy items made in India only know how to read and understand Hindi, their mother tongue or national language, is extremely obvious. Customers can better understand and purchase goods if they are packaged in both provincial and national languages. They will also be able to choose the right product for their needs. If the companies accomplish this, they will expand their client base as well as their revenue. There are many people in India who do not even have a basic understanding of how to read the English language, let alone understand it.
However, the same companies, whether they are Indian or international, write the languages of their nations on the packaging of their goods in other countries. If languages can be written in other nations, why couldn't they be written in India as well? At least three languages should also be inscribed on the packaging of items in India, as requested by our Namdhari Sangat. First, the provincial language of the province in which the item is being sold, next the national language Hindi, and finally, if necessary, English. So, all Indians can read the text on the packaging of the products and pick the items according to their needs.
If all products sold in India are labelled with Indian languages, it will boost the self-esteem and promote the use of Languages of India among its people. As also, the government of our country should put mandate that all items sold in India be packaged in Indian languages. It is also necessary that rigorous regulations and laws be created by the government for the same purpose. The goal is for all companies to obey these regulations and start writing Indian languages on their products. Then, if you agree with us on this issue, you should speak out against it, as well.
Conclusion: We, the Namdhari Sangat, request that, in accordance with the orders of our Present Guru, Shri Satguru Dalip Singh Ji, the provincial language be written first on the packaging of all goods manufactured by all companies, followed by the national language Hindi, and finally, if necessary, the English language be written at the bottom. Many languages are written on the packaging of items sold abroad by all companies. However, most Indians read and understand Hindi solely as their province or national language, this will benefit both your organisation and the customer as well.
